How to improve synthesis in case interviews
Synthesis is not a final speech. It is a repeatable operating rhythm during the case. Use this structure to increase interviewer confidence.
Use a four-part synthesis line
Observation, implication, decision, next ask. If each synthesis line includes all four pieces, your communication stays decisive and interviewer-manageable.
Time your synthesis cadence
Do a short synthesis every 1-2 turns and a chapter synthesis at major transition points. Long stretches without synthesis make strong analysis look unstructured.
Quantify recommendation ranges
Even rough ranges improve credibility: impact range, timeline, and key risk trade-off. Interviewers read this as executive-level judgment.
Practice replacement lines
Turn weak moments into scripted replacements and rehearse them in the next case. This is the fastest way to convert feedback into durable behavior change.
